Parashas Pekudei
As I was driving to Yerushalayim this morning, I was welcomed by the most amazing sight in the valley at the bottom of our mountain. The almond trees are in full bloom and are incredibly beautiful. Alongside them are lots of plum trees, which look very poor, as they haven't yet started to bloom and they're totally bare. There are also olive trees down there in large amounts, and these are the only fruit trees (to my knowledge) that are evergreens. It's an incredible array of the scope of the beauty of Hashem's creation. There are some twits in the world who want to say that each of these different trees worked out for themselves how to develop themselves in this way. How did an olive tree decide to become an evergreen? Where did the plum tree get the kop to blossom a month or two after the almond, not to mention that each one of them produces it's own highly specialised fruit? Barugh Hashem, we have the opportunity to see the wonder's of Hashem's creation around us all the time. It is truly beautiful and exciting.
